Ceramic Implants

A dental implant is an option to replace a missing tooth and is surgically placed into the bone. After a few months of healing time, a permanent crown is placed on top of the implant. At our office, Dr. Thompson uses zirconia (ceramic) implants, which are more biocompatible than the traditional titanium materials, and also have a much more favorable, cosmetic result. Our patients are amazed at the relative lack of discomfort of the implant placement and healing. Dr. Thompson has had advanced training through SDS Swiss Dental Solutions, the world’s premier ceramic implant system.

At Natural Smiles Dental Care, Cone Beam CT (CBCT) is an integral part of the implant process. With cone beam CT, an x-ray beam in the shape of a cone is moved around the patient to produce a large number of images, also called views. Cone beam CT provides detailed images of the bone, and helps us evaluate periodontal bone density, to determine if a patient is an ideal candidate for a ceramic implant. Additionally, this technology guides the implant placement surgery, as it allows Dr. Thompson to see three-dimensionally how the implant will “fit” within the jaw-bone. At our office, we use CBCT scans to fully design the implant placement, in order to effectively guide the surgical process and create the most successful implant integration possible.

After the zirconia implant is inserted, a healing cap is placed over the implant, and a few months later this cap is replaced by an abutment and fitted with a ceramic crown. At our office, we are committed to providing the highest quality of implant services possible, which includes supporting our patients with all the “tools” their jaw-bone needs in order to successfully integrate with the implants. Ozone therapy in the form of water and gas is utilized in the implant placement procedure, as well as PRF. In some situations, Dr. Thompson is able to place an immediate implant, which is the zirconia implant body being placed at the same appointment as the tooth extraction. We require that anyone undergoing implant services have their Vitamin D levels checked with their doctor. Alternatively, patients can have their Vitamin D levels checked using a simple finger-prick blood test as part of a take-home kit that can be purchased at our office. Based on those results, it may be recommended to purchase our D3/K2 blend by Energetix. This high-quality Vitamin D supplement is in a liquid spray form and is designed to help raise a patient’s Vitamin D to optimal surgical levels. A high level of Vitamin D is crucial for gingival healing, and bone regeneration, and is a vital element to overall successful implant integration.

At our office, we highly recommend that all patients undergoing implant services also schedule a visit for Bio-Energetic Scanning treatment and remedies with Denise Schneider. Oftentimes, trapped energetic imbalances found in the jawbone and around infected teeth can inhibit complete implant integration. The healing modalities provided by Denise can help thoroughly clear these stressors and imbalances.
